The Chicago Bears extended their home winning streak to seven games, dating back to last season, with a victory against the LA Rams.

Veteran QB Matthew Stafford headed back to familiar territory, playing against the Chicago Bears for 12 seasons with the Lions before being traded to the Rams, being 12-10 against them in his career. Without his two All-Pro receivers Puka Nacua and Cooper Kupp, Stafford finished with 224 yards passing and one interception.

The Rams' offense was maintained through the pulse of second-year back Kyrean Williams, who finished with 94 yards with a touchdown on 19 carries. Williams has scored 5 touchdowns in three games played this season, adding life to an offense battled with injuries.

Rookie Quarterback Caleb Williams carried over his strong performance from the previous week’s loss to Indianapolis. In the Week Four matchup, he passed for 157 yards and a touchdown, as the offense showed signs of progression.

“Overall, I’m getting more comfortable,” said Williams.

After a slow start to the season, D’Andre Swift bounced back with 170 yards of total offense and two touchdowns. In the fourth quarter, Swift demonstrated his signature elusiveness with a 36-yard touchdown run that extended the score to 24-18.

Although the final score was close, the Bears took control of the game after their first touchdown — a goal-line run from second-year running back Roschon Johnson. The Bears showcased a jumbo package at the goal line, with center Doug Kramer lining up in the backfield as a lead blocker. They employed a variety of formations that helped establish dominance in the run game.

Caleb Williams connected with DJ Moore for a touchdown, taking advantage of a one-on-one matchup with a linebacker. Williams recognized the mismatch and lofted a pass over the middle, allowing Moore to secure the ball and stay inbounds at the back of the end zone.

“When you leave a backer on DJ, that's the match-up that you want and that you wish for throughout games and so that's how it happened. I saw that either like I said, they were going to double DJ, and I was going to throw the route and just spew it out to the route over there on the right side or turn it back in, or I was going to hit DJ in the back of the end zone one-on-one with the backer,” said Williams

Moore finished the game with three catches for 35 yards and a touchdown. Meanwhile, receiver Keenan Allen returned after missing two games with a heel injury and is still working his way back into form.

Williams's development is trending in a positive direction, potentially changing the course of the Bears' season. With a strong defense and an array of offensive weapons, the team is positioning itself to compete for victories consistently.

The fans at Soldier Field were electric from kickoff, creating an atmosphere that the team fed off of. The Bears' defense continued its dominant play, forcing two key turnovers, including a late-game interception by Jaquan Brisker that sealed the victory. Brisker was exceptional, recording 12 tackles, one sack, two tackles for loss, and the game-clinching interception.

Head coach Matt Eberflus’ defensive background is helping shape the Bears' identity, a key factor in their current home winning streak, the longest active in the NFL.

Rookie punter Tory Taylor also had a strong game, averaging 55.4 yards on five punts, with his longest traveling 66 yards. While Caleb Williams had joked during the offseason that Taylor wouldn’t be punting much this year, Taylor has been clutch when called upon. Both the team and the fans fed off his impactful performance on special teams.

The Bears now look to extend their home winning streak to eight games as they prepare to face the Carolina Panthers on Sunday. They aim to enter their bye week with a 4-2 record, following a trip to London to face the Jacksonville Jaguars.
