The crowd roared all night as Red Bull’s SoundClash event took over the Aragon Ballroom.

On November 16, the Aragon Ballroom came alive with the vibrant energy of Latin culture as emerging artists Tornillo and DannyLux faced off in the latest chapter of Red Bull’s SoundClash event. Following the series' kickoff in Los Angeles, the two artists brought their talents to Chicago, delivering a night to remember for the city’s Latin community. This SoundClash held five rounds plus a tiebreaker, each with its own pace and energy.

The venue was packed with fans from floor to balcony, eagerly turning between the opposing stages. Tornillo energized the crowd with his MC-style charisma and high-energy performances, while DannyLux captivated with his soulful sierreño sound and Mexican folk-inspired ballads.

The eventful evening was hosted by Luis Sanchez, who made sure to make the crowd erupt to decide who would take home the title.

Warm-Up Round

The event kicked off with an energized yet intimate warm-up, with each artist setting the tone for the night. Tornillo fired up the crowd with singles like “Brunette” and “Criminales,” while DannyLux countered with heartfelt tracks like “Junto a Ti” and “Zafiro.”

Round 1 - Cover Battle

The first official round settled through the ripples of nostalgic energy as the artists put their spin on classic songs. Tornillo tackled Héctor Lavoe’s “El Día de mi Suerte,” while DannyLux offered a romantic take on Café Tacvba’s “Quiero Ver,” a performance made even more memorable by a surprise onstage marriage proposal.

The round ended in a tie, with the crowd erupting as the applause meter made its decision. Along came the next round, and the two performers got more settled in as the show progressed.

Round 2 - Takeover Round

Creativity took center stage in the second round as the talented artists seamlessly transitioned between each other’s tracks, showcasing their remarkable versatility and collaborative spirit.

The intensity of Tornillo’s electrifying performance not only captivated the audience but also secured his victory, with the crowd fully energized and electrified by his raw energy expressed through the powerful tracks “Cypher” and “Tu Bendición.”

Round 3 - The Clash

The third round highlighted the artists’ versatility as they reimagined their songs in inventive styles. DannyLux experimented with reggae, cumbia, and rock, blending genres in a way that thrilled the crowd. For those in the crowd with their lovers, they enjoyed a moment as DannyLux delivered the songs to go along with the vibe.

Tornillo skillfully countered with a series of heartfelt singles that emotionally resonated with audiences, delivering a captivating and memorable performance that ultimately edged him into the lead with his uniquely innovative and refreshing approach.

Final Round - Wild Card

The stakes were at their highest in the Wild Card round. Both artists brought special guests to amplify their performances—DannyLux with Calle 24 and Tornillo with midwest Latin Hip-Hop group Kinto Sol. The crowd continued to roar in celebration, prompting a tiebreaker to determine the winner.

Tiebreaker and Finale

In the showdown, both artists gave their all to win the audience’s favor. Ultimately, DannyLux emerged victorious as the SoundClash Chicago Champion of 2024.

However, the night’s true triumph was the electric blend of creativity and Latin pride that united the crowd.

Concertgoers left with unforgettable memories as Tornillo and DannyLux delivered performances that showcased the depth and range of Latin music.
